2027: Tinubu To Campaign In Few States, Says Governance Must Continue

President Bola Tinubu has said that he would not campaign across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections disclosing he would only do so in some few strategic states.
The President at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress )resident Campaign Council (apAPCPCC) at the Presidential Villa on Wednesday equally told the governors that only those who worked hard to deliver their states at the polls would be compensated after victory.
Tinubu in his speech insisted that the Council would lead the campaigns across the country and mobilize voters as he stays back to address Nigerians virtually.
According to him, the agreement was made with members of the PCC so as to avoid distraction in governance.
“I hear you. I am in full agreement with your decision. Nigeria needs more attention now than ever before. The responsibility of this office does not pause,”
On why he would not travel to every campaign ground, the President said the government had pressing financial obligations and needed to attract investors to support the country’s future. The job must go on,” he said. “We have bills to pay. The American creditors cannot wait. We want those investors to come in, be here to stay, to invest for the future of our children.”
He charged the campaign council to take the party’s record, vision and agenda to Nigerians across the country, down to the ward level.
“Let the word go out from this hall to every corner of our nation. The APC is ready,” he said.
Describing the inauguration as more than the establishment of a campaign structure, Tinubu said the party was renewing its commitment to Nigerians and the responsibilities entrusted to it as the governing party.
“We have gathered not merely to inaugurate a council. We have gathered to renew a covenant, a covenant with the Nigerian people and the historic responsibility they have thrust to us as Nigeria’s governing party. We promise we will not let them down,” he said.
The President also warned APC governors, lawmakers and other party leaders against taking previous electoral efforts for granted, insisting that their performance in the 2027 election would determine whether they had fulfilled their assignment.
Chairman of the PCC and former governor of Zamfara state, Alhaji Abdulazeez Yari, in his comments harped on the need for them to work together to deliver victory for the President.
“It’s no time for ego. We are all one in this business. We have only one agenda. What is that agenda? To ensure that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu returns as President,” Yari said.
Yari described women as central to the APC, arguing that the Tinubu administration had provided opportunities for women in government.
He cited the appointment of eight female ministers, women serving as heads of federal agencies and other appointments across the country as evidence of the administration’s commitment to women’s inclusion.
According to him, the campaign would seek to translate the administration’s support for women into electoral backing at the polling units, wards, local government and state levels.
The PCC Chair expressed the hope that he that the campaign council, working with party leaders and other stakeholders, would deliver a successful outcome for Tinubu in the January 2027 election.
He formally accepted the appointment, pledging to work with every member of the council to achieve its objective.
“I, Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, as Director-General of this campaign, Mr President, I will do my best, and I will work with each and every member of this council to ensure that the result becomes a successful one by the 16th of January 2027, inshallah,” he said.
