The Former Governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa, has given conditions to President Bola Tinubu that will allow him to vote for him in the 2027 general elections.
Bafarawa, who was speaking to FRI online Hausa medium, said, “My only condition to allow my vote to go to President Tinubu is for him to ensure peace and allow full normalcy to return to my area and other Northern parts”.
He said, while answering questions, that the time is no longer on Tinubu’s side and “As a leader who has power, money and security, three months or even one month is enough for him to change the insecurity narrative in the Northern region”.
“Look, as far as I’m concerned, I don’t want anything in the name of Campaign money; what I want is for President Tinubu to do all he can to ensure peace and allow markets, Schools, Farming and other livelihood activities to return to our Communities, and I assured him that I will vote for him”.
Bafarawa who said that since President Tinubu became President he only saw him once at a Mosque and even at that, the Person who the President asked to bring him to Presidency refused to do so after blocking his numbers.
He insisted that, even though he is not a member of APC, anybody, including President Tinubu, who will bring peace to the North will surely earn his votes.
“But it is unacceptable that today, our Children could not go to school; don’t anybody who denied you education denied you life, while villagers could not go to farm, and so many towns were completely sacked; that is why, at this juncture, if Tinubu will ensure peace, he is simply my candidate.
Commenting on why former Zamfara Governor AbdulAziz Yari accepted being the Director General of Tinubu’s Campaign, even though his own state is persistently under bandits’ attacks.
Bafarawa, defended Yari saying he is a member of APC firstly and he has to respect his Party decision and as well the person that appointed him was the President and he can’t said no.
“So I don’t see anything wrong with AbdulAziz Yari accepting to be DG campaign for President Tinubu because he is doing a job that he is appointed to do, and don’t forget it will be disrespectful for him to say no.
He added that, “Before Yari was appointed, he came to many of us seeking advice, and after being appointed, he still came back. This is to tell you that he is a man of proven integrity.
