The All Progressive Congress, APC Kebbi State Chapter has condemned the recent political violence in Jega town and demands full investigation into the matter as well as justice for perpetrators of the act.
The State APC Publicity Secretary, Isah Assalafi disclosed this at a Press briefing held at the party’s sectariat in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
He said the party in the State has taken note of the recent violence and distraction in parts of Jega local government area of the state and considered the incident as a serious development that requires prompt, thorough and impartial investigation.
Assalafi explained that, Jega has a long history of active political participation and will remain an important community within kebbi State adding that the action of minority must not be allowed to creat a false impression about the character of the people of Jega.
He called on security agencies to investigate the incident as political differences are not licence for criminality as no political objective can justify the destruction of lives, property or public peace.
The party’s spokesperson said that, the party cautions political actors, supporters, and other stakeholders against inflammatory statements, deliberate misinformation or actions capable of heightening tension in Jega and other parts of the state.
According to him, the APC led administration of Governor Nasir Idris, remains focused on the development of the State and the implementation of programs and projects aimed at improving the lives of citizens, sustaining peace and stability as security remains fundamental towards achieving the administration’s objectives.
The party commended security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders and residents whose efforts contributed to the restoration of peace and stability in the area and call for a transparent investigation into the incident so that the facts can be established and justice served.
