The President, in his comments at the event, foreclosed the possibility of restoring the fuel subsidy as being suggested by his challengers at the oncoming 2027 presidential election.

Tinubu, who commended the CBM for organising and mobilising the Nigerian youth for his reelection, urged the members to sensitise voters across the country to vote massively for him at the polls in January 2027.

Evaluating his administration in the last three years, the President said, “The road we have walked these past three years has not been easy.

“We took hard decisions. When I came in, we were unable to pay even salaries. We were owing money to airlines; they were almost cutting their flights to Nigeria. Our foreign reserves were nothing. We printed currency as if there were no tomorrow. But rather than looking back at the flaws of the past, I took the lesson.

“I assumed the responsibility and liability of my predecessor. We rebuilt our tax system. Many said young Nigerians would turn their backs on reform. They were wrong. You are here.

“I came and promised one thing: that I will stop the strikes by ASUU. That four-year course will be four years in the universities. Those liabilities are redeemed today. We understood that a nation cannot borrow its way to greatness.

“You were patient when patience was hard. You defended this administration and the markets, on the campuses, in the motor parks, and on social media, often when it was not popular to do so; I saw it, I noticed, and I will never forget it. I said thank you once again.”

He commended the members of the movement for telling Nigerians the work the government was doing, even when others chose to tell the half story, promising to continue to work for one indivisible and prosperous country for the future generation.

Tinubu said he was proud to have signed the Student Loan Act into law with its attendant success, adding: “With CREDICORP, I was thinking of the young worker who deserves to own a laptop, a car, a motorbike, a solar system without begging anyone. When we launched the three MTT, I was thinking of the young Nigerians who want to complete and compete with the best in the world from right here at home.”

He encouraged and prayed for his son, Seyi, who is the patron of the CBM and other leaders of the Movement for their efforts, saying posterity would reward their contributions.

Speaking on the clamour for the removal of subsidy by his political enemies, the President said, “I came, and I removed subsidy the first day. No, Nigeria will go bankrupt. Yes, nothing left to pay subsidy.

“I could listen to my political opponents promising a return to subsidy. Most of all, sometimes I remember my scripture studies, both the Bible and the Holy Quran. When Musa or Moses left Egypt, they faced the challenge, and the Red Sea parted and gave way.

“You cannot ask Moses to go back to Egypt. We wake up with ideas, original thoughts, and deep thinking to move this country forward. With your energy, your support, we will never go back to Egypt. No regrets.

“We are on the right trajectory. We are in good company. The economy is growing; it’s steady.”

Vice President Kashim Shettima, in his comments, lauded the President for not paying lip service to the structural reforms needed by the country.

According to him, Tinubu’s policies have “drawn Nigeria back from the age of an economic calamity that continued delay would have made inevitable.”

Shettima insisted that the nation’s economy would have collapsed but for the policies introduced by the President to revive it.

He disclosed that the President would soon unveil some “robust responses to agricultural challenges, and prices of foodstuffs will cert
