Akor Adams will come up against international teammate Maduka Okoye in the Coppa Italia round of 16, after helping new club Venezia beat Modena 3-2 by scoring two goals and providing an assist on Saturday night, completesports.com reports.

Making his first appearance since his move from Spanish La Liga club Sevilla, Adams netted the late winner to send his side into the next round.

Modena, who feature in Serie B, took the lead in the 17th minute through Giuseppe Ambrosino but nine minutes late Adams made it 1-1.

In the 39th minute Ambrosino got his second of the match to put his side 2-1 ahead before Adams set up John Yeboah for the equaliser on 83 minutes.

Then in the 85th minute Adams got on the score sheet again, bagging the winning goal for Venezia and setting up a clash with Okoye’s Udinese which will be played on September 2.

To get to the round of 16, Udinese edged out Serie B club Padova 1-0 also on Saturday.

Venezia have only won the Coppa Italia once which was in the 1940/1941 season while Udinese have never won the Cup competition.

Also, Venezia will open their 2026/2027 Serie A campaign with a home clash with Lecce next Sunday and their first away trip will be at the San Siro against AC Milan.

Last season Adams scored 10 goals, made three assists in 32 appearances in La Liga for Sevilla.
