UNICAL To Host NUGA Games From November 14 To 24 – VC

The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has declared that the institution will tentatively host the 28th edition of the Nigeria Universities Games Association (NUGA) from November 14 to 24 on its campus.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Offiong E. Offiong, who disclosed this during a press briefing in Calabar on Thursday, said the event is more than a competition: “It is an extraordinary opportunity to showcase our commitment to academic and athletic excellence, foster unity among our universities, and celebrate the vibrant spirit of our youth.”

According to him:

“The University of Calabar is, without any hesitation, ready and willing to welcome and host athletes, officials, and spectators from all over Nigeria and beyond. We understand the significance of this event and the role it plays in elevating the standard of sports and education in our country.

“With unwavering integrity and commitment to excellence and decency, we are prepared to deliver an unforgettable experience that reflects the values of fair play, respect, and camaraderie that NUGA stands for.

“The successful execution of these games demands a collective effort, and I am proud to acknowledge the support of the Cross River State Government, our steadfast partners in this noble endeavour.

“We are also excited to collaborate with state officials, as well as engage key stakeholders such as the media, corporate partners, political office holders, and our esteemed alumni association.”

He added: “This is an investment not just in the present, but a definitive step towards cultivating a new generation of athletes who will shine both nationally and internationally. Our goal is to create state-of-the-art sports complexes that will continue to benefit our students and the community long after the final medal of the games is awarded.”
