The three-day https://1xcup.ng group-stage action witnessed a series of closely contested encounters, producing decisive victories (5), high-scoring affairs and several hard-fought draws (4).

Dynamic FC 3–2 Ama Smile FC

In the opening game on Tuesday,  September 22, Dynamic FC secured a narrow 3–2 win against Ama Smile FC in a highly entertaining five-goal thriller.

Dynamic opened the scoring as early as the second minute of the game through Opaleye Elijah Oluwaseyifunmi whose goal was assisted by Omoshade Samuel.

Shokunbi Samuel set up Shodimu Abraham to make it 2-0 in the seventh minute while Dynamic opened up a three-nil lead on 47 minutes courtesy of Samuel who turned goalscorer from provider.

Ama Smile refused to lie low as they almost forced a draw after Obasi Nnamdi Daniel netted in the 63rd minute while Adeleye Emmanuel Odunayo also scored on 68 minutes courtesy of an

assist from Abdulsalam Idris Oluwatosin.

Both sides showed attacking intent, but Dynamic was dynamic enough to claim all three points as Ama Smile had nothing much to smile about.

Kiraa FA 2–2 Crusaders FC

Tuesday’s second encounter saw Group B rivals, Kiraa FA and Crusaders FC share the spoils as both teams played out a dramatic 2–2 draw.

Ayinla Emmanuel came up with an assist for Ayobami Ajayi to put Kiraa ahead in the eight minute before Itung Emmanuel Jacob set up Nwafor Felix Nnamdi to net Crusaders’ equalising goal in the 20th minute.

Crusaders then took the lead for the first time in the game through Ajiduah Chukwuemeka John’s 38th minute effort assisted by Victor Obinna Udeh before Emmanuel Ben’s 45th minute penalty leveled scores for Kiraa.

The result reflected the competitive nature of the group, with neither side able to establish enough control to secure victory.

Elite Stars FC 2–1 AUX FC

Tuesday’s final fixture produced a winner after Elite Stars FC came from behind to edge 10-man AUX FC 2–1 in another closely fought match, giving themselves an important three points as they held their nerve against a determined Group F opponent.

AUX opened the scoring as early as the 13th minute through Samuel Kayode Olumiyiwa but Elite Stars equalised in the 25th minute when Sodiq Abiola set up Hafiz Odunayo to find the net.

AUX went one man down in the 50th minute when Victor Abayomi got sent off, only seven minutes after he had received a yellow card.

Elite Stars made very good use of the advantage to score their winning goal in the 54th minute courtesy of Olagoke Olanrewaju.

Emiloju FC 2–1 BYT Academical FC

Wednesday’s action produced another set of competitive encounters as the opening game of the day saw Emiloju FC continue their campaign with a 2–1 win over BYT Academical FC.

Ogundeji Elijah put Emiloju one goal ahead in the 38th minute but BYT equalised through Mutiu Ajibowo who converted a 57th minute penalty.

Idowu Babatunde Morakinyo ensured Emiloju came out on top by scoring the winning goal in the 59th minute.

The victory came after a competitive battle in which Emiloju converted their opportunities more effectively, thereby strengthening their position in a keenly contested Group A.

Ajuwa FA 2–2 Tonic FC

In the second game on Wednesday, another action-filled encounter, Ajuwa FA and 10-man Tonic FC played out an entertaining 2–2 draw in Group C.

Emeka Sylvester who had already scored a hat-trick in Ajuwa’s opening 4–0 victory over Joy Cometh FC maintained his impressive form in front of goal with another effort in the 34th minute, thereby, taking his tournament tally to five.

Emmanuel Okanlawon netted the equaliser in the 40th minute while Ipaye Micheal put Tonic ahead for the first time in the 50th minute only for Sylvester to turn provider from goalscorer as he set up Otto Paul to level the scores for Ajuwa in the 60th minute.

The two teams traded goals in a match that remained competitive until the final whistle, with both settling for a point despite Tonic going a man down after Nasiru Ipense was booked on 55 and 68 minutes.

Newhope Naija FC 1–0 Divine Praise FC

In Wednesday’s closing game, a Group B fixture, Newhope Naija FC claimed a vital 1–0 victory over Divine Praise FC.

A 57th minute goal by Abdulleetef Bamidele was all that Newhope Naija needed to grab a vital win with the midfielder scoring after being set up by Umoh Ezekiel.

The narrow scoreline underlined a disciplined contest, with Newhope Naija doing enough to secure maximum points and boost their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stage of the tournament.

Collins Edwin SC 3–0 ECAS FA

Thursday’s opening game saw Collins Edwin SC produce one of the most emphatic results of the round, as they defeated ECAS FA 3–0 in a Group F fixture.

A strong attacking display and a solid defensive performance helped Collins Edwin collect all three points without conceding a single goal as Liadi Shafihi Adisa’s brace on 1 and 16 minutes courtesy of assists from Omosebi Damilare and Obiora Sunny respectively put them 2-0 ahead against ECAS.

Collins Edwin made certain of an impressive 3-0 win through OMOSEBI DAMILARE whose 38th minute goal was set up by Unite Amodu.

Vido 99 FC 2–2 JP Young Stars FC

Thursday’s second encounter saw Group A opponents, Vido 99 FC and JP Young Stars FC play out a 2–2 draw in another fascinating and evenly matched contest.

Young Stars scored first in the 13th minute through Alfred Isaac Emamoke whose goal was set up by Akara Simon Chiaruka.

Vido 99 leveled the scores through Victor Adebayo whose 19th minute goal arrived courtesy of an assist from Mohammed Abdulsamad.

Ismaila Philip put Young Stars ahead once again in the 32nd minute but Vido made it 2-2 through Adebayo who got his brace in the 57th minute.

Both teams found the net twice, but neither could produce the decisive moment needed to claim victory.

36 Lion FC 1–0 Maryland United FC

Thursday’s final fixture produced a winner after 36 Lion FC secured a narrow 1–0 triumph against Maryland United FC in Group D.

The result was decided by a 42nd minute goal scored by Soumah Mohamed courtesy of an assist from Ridwan Aremu as 36 Lion held on to take maximum points from a tightly contested encounter.

The narrow victory once again highlighted the competitiveness of the https://1xcup.ng group stage, with several games decided by a single goal and four of the nine matches played this week ending level.
