Adamawa NNPP Collapses Structures Into SDP As Party Guber Candidate Unveils Running Mate

As the 2027 general elections draw nearer, the Adamawa State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has collapsed the party structure and fussed into the Social Democratic Party (SDP), declaring support for the party’s governorship candidate, Christopher Nathaniel and his running mate.
Stakeholders believes that the recent development brings a new group of political actors into the SDP fold as parties and the gubernatorial candidates intensify preparations ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Speaking on behalf of the former NNPP members, Dr. Mustapha Mohammad Abbo said their decision was informed because of Nathaniel’s policies and political agenda for Adamawa State which they believe is the best of the state.
They made the declaration of joining SDP during the official unveiling of Dr. Fauziyah Ahmed Rufai as its deputy governorship candidate of the 2027 general election.
The unveiling which coincides with the SDP Stakeholders Consultative Open Joint Session Meeting, had in attendance party leaders, stakeholders, candidates, officials and supporters of the party with the aim to strengthen internal coordination and chart a common course ahead of the election.
Dr. Rufai was presented to the party stakeholders as the running mate to the SDP Governorship Candidate, Christopher Nathaniel, marking another major step in the party’s preparations for the governorship contest.
Speaking at the meeting, Nathaniel described the choice of Dr. Rufai as one reached after careful consideration of the qualities, experience and capacity required to complement the governorship ticket and contribute to the development of Adamawa State.
Dr. Rufai, a Petroleum Geologist, university lecturer and researcher, brings an academic and professional background to the ticket.
Her emergence also places a woman in a prominent position on the SDP governorship ticket. Christopher said.
The consultative session provided an opportunity for stakeholders to reaffirm the need for unity, cooperation and an issue-focused campaign as the party intensifies its engagement across Adamawa State.
With the formal unveiling of Dr. Fauziyah Ahmed Rufai, the SDP governorship ticket of Christopher Nathaniel has now been presented to party stakeholders as the party continues preparations for the 2027 election.
