INEC To Display Preliminary Voter Register In Nasarawa’s 147 Electoral Wards

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Nasarawa State, has said that it would display the preliminary voter register for new registrants across the 147 electoral wards in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mohamed Abubakar, stated this at a press conference on Wednesday in Lafia, said the exercise was in line with the provions of Section 19(1) of the Electoral Act 2026 (as amended).

Abubakar, represented by the Administrative Secretary of the Commission in the state, Mr Ajuh Jacob, explained that the Electoral Act mandates the INEC to display the register not less than 90 days before the conduct of the general election.

He disclosed that the preliminary register would be displayed in all 147 electoral wards of the state from October 9 to October 15, for claims, objections and collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) therefore, advised registered voters in the state to take advantage of the opportunity to cross-check their details, such as names, photographs, date of birth and polling units.

“Voters will check their names and other details and make claims from Oct. 9 to Oct. 15,” he said.

Abubakar disclosed that after the seven-day display, voters can visit INEC offices at the headquarters of the 13 Local Government Areas of the state for collection of their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

He said “The PVCs from the first phase of the registration exercise conducted from Aug. 18 to Dec. 10, 2025 will be ready for collection at the 147 electoral wards during the seven-day exercise and thereafter at the LGA level.

“Those who registered during the subsequent phases of the Continuous Voter Registration should not panic as their PVCs will be distributed after that of the first phase.

“PVCs will still be distributed until seven days before the general election, so the commission will still issue unclaimed PVCs to owners if they come to our offices for collection,” he said.

The REC explained that the display of the priliminary voter register would enable the INEC to remove ineligible persons, including underage and multiple registrations, where complaints are received, urged residents of the state yo take the exercise serious.
