Ekiti 2026: PDP gov candidate laments BVAS failure
The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Dr Wole Oluyede, has decried the slow functioning of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), saying it affected his accreditation before voting.
Oluyede, who voted at Unit 6, Ward 3, Osagburu Family Hall, lamented that the BVAS device was not functioning properly.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that since voting started at 8:30 a.m., only six persons had been accredited to cast their votes.
NAN also reports that INEC officials were seen at the polling unit trying to ensure that the machine functioned effectively.
Reacting to the electoral process, Oluyede condemned the process, describing it as “nonsense.”
“The electoral process is nonsense. A lot of my people are yet to vote because the BVAS is not functioning properly.
“I am not happy with the current electoral process; this is not the first time that the machine is being faulty at my polling unit.
“I am going to make adequate reports of these irregularities to the appropriate authority,” he said.
Oluyede urged INEC to be more transparent in the electoral process.
The PDP governorship candidate also condemned alleged harassment of his supporters at various units, describing it as undemocratic.
“Some of my followers are being harassed at the polling units by security agencies and no media is reporting the incident.
“I have cast my vote but I will still wait to ensure that all my supporters also cast their votes,” he said. (NAN)
